Spokane, Washington, is About to Lose up to a 100 Shelter Beds for the Homeless
Spokane’s Family Promise Open Doors’ shelter will only be able to shelter 30 people a night starting Monday. The number goes down from 80, and around half of the people staying there are children.
The House of Charity will stop serving women after July 13. It can shelter up to 50 women a night.
Robert McCann, Catholic Charities President, stated that all other women shelters were always full. He went on to explain that the women who had been staying at the House of Charity would end up on the street.
The city’s planned shelter for adults will not be ready until the fall, at least.
